While it was somewhat 'tongue in cheek', promotional info from them 
during the summer about buying an upgrade at that time would qualify 
one for a free upgrade to X when it came out-estimated as 11/08 does 
indicate that one might hope to see it soon.

Their exact words:
Our records indicate that your company is relying on an older version 
of Retrospect 6.1 for your backup and recovery.  You can purchase an 
upgrade to Retrospect 6.1 now and you will receive a FREE upgrade to 
Retrospect X for Macintosh - estimated released date: 11/08
