Incremental Backup Technology

This is true to an extent, but as I recall the Entrourage databases are
large single files -- Retrospect only recopies changed files but does
not copy just parts of files. So, if you had 100,000 1KB files of which
only 1,000 changed, it would only recopy around 1MB (1KB x 1000) but if
you have 5 files each that were 2Gb each and all 5 of them changed, it
would recopy 10GB a night.

Subject: Incremental Backup Technology

Hi,

One of my clients is considering an upgrade to Retrospect for Windows
- Multiserver. Taking a look at the latest features, I saw this:

"No need for time-consuming weekly full backups
Unlike other backup products, Retrospect does not require weekly full
backups in order to accurately restore data. Simply start with one
full backup and Retrospect patented incremental backup technology
takes care of the rest saving time and storage space."

Is this feature something that will be available (built-in or as an
add-on) in the forthcoming Mac version? This would be huge for many
of us who wrestle with massive Entourage databases, & such in
Mac-centric shops...

Regards,

Bob Humphrey
