Maybe it is related to OS X Server OR OS X Single User 10.6.x, don't you mean? They might be different. I know of a number of folks running OS X 10.6.x and have heard of no problems there, but have no personal knowledge.
I'm running OS X as shown below on the Mini, it has no issues. Nor have the clients that all run the latest OS. I have not upgraded the Mini yet. Simply don't have a need...
